The Flared Pleat Shorts are your perfect statement summer shorts. With a tucks at the front, these shorts have the fullness of a skirt! This pattern is perfect for confident beginners and is great for anyone who is up for the challenge of inserting an invisible zipper. This pattern has a centre back zipper, and hem facings for a flawless finish.
This is a digital PDF pattern contains a 16 page instruction book that can be downloaded immediately after purchase. The pattern can be printed on either A4 or US Letter paper. Instruction on printing are contained inside. Print at 100% scaling. This pattern has a scale test to ensure you have printed your pattern correctly. No physical item will be sent. This pattern is written in English and contains measurements in both metric (centimetres) and imperial (inches).

DIFFICULTY
Confident beginner
This pattern is perfect for anyone who is up for the challenge of inserting an invisible zipper. There is also hand sewing required for this style, however you can choose to use the sewing machine for all steps if you would prefer. There is a YouTube video tutorial available at this link: https://youtu.be/Q49Zry5h0UI. This will help you out with every step along the way. The whole garment can be made from start to finish in around 4-5 hours. Always remember to take your time and make a mock up in a cheaper fabric before you begin on the final project. This will allow you to make any alterations before you begin ensuring perfect fit.
FABRIC REQUIREMENTS
- 1m (1.1 yards) main fabric 120cm (1.3 yards in width minimum) Heavy weight cottons, drills, and linens are suitable for this style
- 20cm (0.2 yards) light/medium weight fusing for the waistband pieces. Optional for the hem facings.
- 25cm (10”) invisible zipper to match the colour of your main fabric
OTHER TOOLS REQUIRED
- 25cm (10”) invisible zipper to match the colour of your main fabric
- Matching sewing thread
- Scissors
- Pins
- Sewing machine
- Overlocker/Serger (optional if your sewing machine has zig zag capabilities)
- Printer and A4 paper/US Letter paper to print your pattern
